The Harvey L. Foster Foundation for Science Education is pleased to currently have scholarships available to high school seniors from St. Tammany, Washington, Livingston, or Tangipahoa Parish as well as to existing Southeastern Louisiana University students that are pursuing a science or engineering degree in college. The selected student(s) must meet the criteria as laid out in the application form, be accepted at college, and provide enrollment information showing science classes.
There are currently two scholarships. It is possible that more than one recipient per year may qualify for scholarship money.
- The EBS Pearl River Study Scholarship was started in 2008 by Environmental Business Specialists LLC. EBS donates $4000 per year to the Foundation based on studies performed on the Pearl River on behalf of their two paper mill clients, International Paper in Bogalusa LA and Georgia Pacific in Monticello MS. These studies are performed with the assistance of Dr. Kyle Piller of Southeastern Louisiana University (SELU). The Foundation awards one or more science scholarships annually to an eligible undergraduate or graduate students enrolled at SELU. The EBS Pearl River Studies Scholarship will be one-year scholarships that range from $500 to $4000 which can be used for tuition, fees, books, and living expenses, The EBS Pearl River Studies Scholarship is specifically for students who are science majors at Southeastern Louisiana University. Recipients will be eligible to re-apply for additional years’ scholarships.
- The Harvey L. Foster Foundation (HLFF) Scholarship was started in 2009 and awards one or more scholarships for an academic year of up to $1000 per semester. The scholarship lasts a maximum of four years, awarding up to $8000 to deserving and continually qualifying students. Qualifying students are those graduating from a local high school in St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Livingston, or Washington Parishes who plan to pursue a degree in the field of science. Students may pursue their degree at
anyaccredited college or university in the United States.
